Label:  Nuclear Blast
Format:  CD , LP
Tracks:  13
Time:  51 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Crossover Thrash

"Beat the Bastards" is an album by the scottish band The Exploited, released in 1996 through Rough Justice Records. The songs "Law for the rich" and "Police TV" both contain audio samples from the 1971 feature film A Clockwork Orange. Intro before song "Beat the bastards" contains sample from film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Lisbeth Salander (played by Noomi Rapace) wears a t-shirt with the album's cover art in the Swedish film adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009 film). The album had very commercial succes but it was not much accepted in the underground hardcore punk scene, which considered the album too much metalized. Some people described it as "crossover thrash" or simply punk metal style with nihilistic lyrical themes as the rest of their algums. In 2014 "Nuclear Blast records" made the album again on different formats: CD , LP, cassette and DVD.

"the massacre"
Year:  1990
Label:  Nuclear Blast
Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  12
Time:  44 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Crossover Thrash

The Exploited are a scottish rock band from the second wave of UK punk, formed in 1979. Originally as punk rock band, they transformed into a fast hardcore punk band and finally in 1990, they played "crossover thrash" with strong heavy metal influences. The Exploited In fact it can be considered a band that inspired later hardcore bands and even thrash metal bands. "the massacre" and "beat the bastards" are the two closest thrash-metal albums, but already in its beginning they made some kind of seminal, ultra simple and primitive: thrash. "out of control", "free flight" or "royalty" are three tracks of 1980 with a base and a repetition scheme is reminiscent: thrash. In "the massacre" metal influence is so great that even the cover, back and all the artwork accompanying the disc, seems straight out of a heavy metal band. Even the posers and super-exagerated costume showing for the band's members reminds a little falsehood of some heavy metal stars. Despite having some good tracks like "don't pay the poll tax," "boys in blue", "blown out of the sky" or "the massacre," the album was not well received in general in the hardcore punk scene... and also to mention the disgusting words against the fanzine "Maximum Rock'n'Roll" and the controversy between The Exploited and some american bands like Dead Kennedys or Septic Death.

"horror epics"
Year:  1984
Label:  Combat
Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  13
Time:  36 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:    Goth        Punk        Hardcore

One of the best and most original release of all The Exploited discography could be this "Horror epics" from 1984, which can mix the typical punk hardcore sound with another styles such as: dark wave, death rock or even goth rock, and frankly the result is excellent and brilliant. Even the cover and back of the album is original If we compare it with the rest of the covers. Another new is the electronic drums which were recorded, one, two and three drums at the same time, with the goal to get an effect of reverb or echo in the rhythmic section. Similar reverb or "echo" effect was aplied on voices, chorus, guitars and bass. I ignore the reasons but the album was issued firstly in the USA (1984) and one year later in UK and Europe. Is this some kind of goth hardcore?

Year:  1983
Label:  Nuclear Blast
Format:  CD
Tracks:  12
Time:  30 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Punk         Hardcore

In 1983 The Exploited repeat the same formule for “Troops of Tomorrow”, we mean, a mix of punk and hardcore with lyrical themes closer Oi! band (violence, war, nihilism, etc.). Anyway was a good album and includes the great song "God saved the Queen" which is one of the best Exploited tracks in my personal opinion.

"troops of tomorrow"
Year:  1982
Label:  Warner
Format:  CD
Tracks:  13
Time:  36 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Punk        Hardcore

The Exploited is the only one band responsible to named "Punk 82" to this kind of british hardcore music, but in opposite to the optimistic and pacifist american bands like Minor Threat, MDC, DRI or Bad Brains, Wattie and company continue to sing about nihilism, pesimism, military life, war, violence, chaos and disorder. Strictly musical the album is an excellent exemple of fast punk or "proto-hardcore" from 1980 and they made a very good The Vibrators cover song which named the disc "Troops of tomorrow". In the next issues several labels: "Roadrunner" (Warner Music), "Secret", "Link", "Captain Oi!", etc. added more bonus tracks to the original album but the original had just thirteen songs.

"Punks not dead"
Year:  1981
Label:  Secret
Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  15
Time:  38 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:         Punk

"punks not dead" is the debut studio album by the scottish punk band The Exploited, released in 1981 firstly on "Secret Records". Strongly working class and loyal to the first impulses of the 1976 punk movement, the album was a reaction to critics who believed the genre was dead, and against popular trends like new wave and post-punk. It contains the double A side singles "Army Life / Fuck the Mods" and the later follow up "I Believe in Anarchy". "Army Life" details the experiences of Wattie Buchan when he was a 17 year old squaddie on a tour of duty in Belfast in the late 70s. Supported by a tour with several bands, the album was a commercial success and is regarded as one of the definitive 80's punk albums, and its popularity gave rise to a variety of traditional punk bands including The Business. "Punks not dead" peaked at no 20 on the UK charts in May of that year, gave the band a national following in the United Kingdom and it was the top selling 1981 independent release. All tracks are writen by the band except "Mucky pup", a good song of Puncture, an unkown 1977 band.
