Recorded at the "Stables Rhythm Studios" (UK) on march 1996, "Punk junkies" came at a time where the public linked the word "punk" or "hardcore" to bands closer to pop such as: Green Day, Offspring, Bad Religion, NO FX or Blink 182. That is, more or less fast, melodic and above all very close to pop about voice and chorus refers Californian bands. Few people remember GBH and its congeners, but the excellent work of Paul Johnston (enginer, producer), german label "We Bite" and the GBH boys, became this album in one of their best albums but the best. Well given the situation and the surprise of many (or all), the band spawned his best album of his entire career since 1979 to present day. Their classic british punk mixed with american classic rock or garage rock (Iggy Pop, Stooges) and also thrash-metal. The result was explosive and I am really convinced that this is the GBH "Opus Magna". This is the only GBH album I could honestly say that they really cross over into metal sounding territory. The metalish guitar and double kicks makes it sound much more metal even than "From here to reality" (1990), but it's also true there are nor solos neither complicated structures as most of heavy metal bands. Highly recommended.  Best GBH album ever.

I think GBH is a very irregular band in its musical career evolution also in comparison to other hardcore punk bands. Since the beggining, they have recorded very good albums like this one entitled "From here to reality", "Punk junkies" or "City baby attacked by rats" which I sincerelly admire them. But on the other hand they have recorded totally failure albums like that rather weak "Midnight madness" or "No need to panic", which in addition to have poor sound, were made with a lousy production. This is my personal opinion, of course, someone else may seem directly opposite or absolutely not like GBH. Regarding "From here to reality" for me is their best album next to "Punk junkies" no doubt. I read somewhere this album was later again released through three more labels: "Powerage Records", ""Restless Records", "Globus International" and "Captain Oi!" in 2006, with some bonus tracks (demo songs) and some changes in the artwork. Includes 8-sided booklet with lyrics. Recorded at the Old Smithey, Kempsey, England June 1990.

In 1989 label "Clay records" decided to put on this album on the market, which was a GBH recording of a live concert at Leeds in 1983. I myself bought this vinyl (my first GBH purchase) and with this album I got an idea of how GBH sounded  from 1979 to 1989. The sound is quite regular, we can say... acceptable, but the guitar is not very clear, but a bit confusing. Here below you can also see the video of the complete concert. The songs here are from the two first albums, I mean the classics such as: "Sick boy", "Give me fire", "Man Trap", etc.
