BETTER THAN A THOUSAND was a hardcore band with former Youth of Today singer Ray Cappo, Graham Land and Ken Olden from Battery fame. It was a side project of Shelter, Ray originally intended just to record a couple songs with some friends and it spawned three world tours and two albums. After the huge success of "JUST ONE" released on "Revelation Records" in August of 97 Roadrunner Records basically forbid Ray Cappo (YOUTH OF TODAY, SHELTER) from releasing "VALUE DRIVEN" (BETTER THAN A THOUDAND, 2cd full length) for fear of it over shadowing SHELTER and thus hurting the money they invested in the project. Strictly musical this album is a total and complete manifest of what is the "dictionnary" definition of hardcore music: velocity, simplicity, short songs, clear voice and light sound. The same schedule that 80´s old bands learnt us: Minor Threat, 7 Seconds or Gorilla Biscuits. Several years after issued a work with all discography together in a only one CD, which is in fact the better way to listen to this essential band in the hardcore / punk history.
