LA BANDA TRAPERA DEL RIO started in 1978 in Cornella, Catalonia (Spain). First spanish
punk-rock band ever and also first rock band to write songs in
catalan language, “ciutat podrida” or "dona" for example. After two albums they disbanded in
1982. Ten years after, in 1992, they returned with two new albums and some tours and disbanded again in 1996 to come back again in 2016. 1997 they changed the name for OFICIAL MATUTE to sound rock´n´roll and hard rock. In fact, even the members of the band affirm they were not and are not punks but just young, poor and rock lovers. They do not dressed like british punks at all, but they played a kind of crude and rude rock & roll which reminded a lot bands like Iggy Pop, The Stooges, New York Dolls or Dictators with lyrics about poverty, heroin, crime, prostitution, etc. During more than 25 years the majority of punk hardcore scene, press and society seem forgot this essential band which lived with no glory from 1978 to 1982. Since 2.000 all things have changed and LA BANDA TRAPERA DEL RIO has appeared some times on TV, have a bio book, a bio film and different re-issues of live concerts, demos, rare tracks and compilations. In 2016 the band come back with new studio album and currently making live concerts.
