It is obvious that what you hear is an important part of your personality, even if you are reading this blog. Thus, even if some connect button "they do not like me, I do not care" when they come out to stroll around the corner, in general usually smile when we see someone with a shirt Clash roaming the streets. It is natural, if not externemos feeling. Punk is the ugly child of the rock, even though, ironically, was the one who came to rescue him. And I say that not just the story of the old disco and (gulp!) Yes and Pink Floyd. I speak mainly of the direct discourse around youth, where Chuck Berry portrayed the feelings of young people who, thanks to the conditions created by the post-war period, for the first time could be considered a group. Went away, but come back. Although everyone who left the 77 generation had the right to prosecute most of these bandinhas unsalted and compound names pathetic (my "favorite" is clap your hands say yeah), there is, as I say, a hole in the discography the majority of fans (one more!) she wants revenge. The Beatles they jump smiths and joy division ... Ok, ok. No accounting for taste and are not required consistency. But when there is a rule, do not ask me to be quiet. Can not. Deserves study. It is clear that Punk has a bad reputation. That is undeniable. And what most bands do today is clean up the bad part. Enjoy the musical structure (who grew up) and the visual, but giving that guy from the 2000s and it is clear that an electronic pat will not bother anyone. Today, I have the impression of hearing the riff of "Inside Out" from 999 in many, many songs... Thus, as I have a fondness for Punk bands, I get that feeling of injustice. And this disc that accompanies this post helps to worsen the story. Come on, do not speak of "Holiday in Cambodia" because of all that surrounded the Dead Kennedys, but it is unbelievable that a song like "Babylon's Burning" has had as best placement on the charts a seventh miserable place on June 79 and then descended downhill. No, never asked for anything like "Bad" from Michael Jackson. But, after all, who knows Ruts? Hear these versions proves the beauty of the melodies. But perhaps the fact that here in our little world anyone know or like these bands makes them more special. They become ours.

THE UNDERTONES

"idem"
Year:  1979
Country:  UK
City:  Derry
Label:  Universal
Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  14
Time:  40 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Punk Pop

The Undertones formed in Derry, Northern Ireland, in 1976. Their debut EP, Teenage Kicks, was released by Belfast record shop owner Terry Hooley on his Good Vibrations label in September 1978. The song captivated Britain's top DJ, John Peel, who played the song on his BBC radio show. This attracted a deal from Sire, which released the band's debut LP in April 1979. That Autumn, The Undertones earned kudos as a support act on the Clash's American tour. In 2010 David Cameron (minister of the british government for the Liberal Party) offered to UNDERTONES singer Feargal Sharkey to become lord and administrate the musical industry affaires. A senior Government source said: “David Cameron is deeply impressed with Feargal and his knowledge, leadership and commitment when it comes to representing the music business. “He would be a welcome addition to the House of Lords or in a role advising the Government, although nothing has been finalised yet". Friends of Feargal, 56, say his own politics are closer to social-democrat ideas (Labour Party), but they believe he would be happy to work with the coalition to improve the music business’s fortunes. The Undertones got back together in 1999 without Feargal who turned down the offer to sing with them again. In 2010 he was part of the successful battle to save BBC Radio 6 Music. No doubt this album could be one of the 10 punk rock essential albums.

"Hypnotised" is a 1980 album released by The Undertones. The album, the second of four released by the band, was recorded at Wisseloord Studios in the Netherlands in December 1979 and at Eden Studios in London in January 1980. The LP was released in April 1980, reaching number 6 in the UK Albums Charts and making Hypnotised the highest charting album of their career. The original release of Hypnotised included two singles: "My Perfect Cousin", which was released on 28 March, 1980 and reached number 9 in the charts; and "Wednesday Week", released on 5 July, 1980 and which charted at number 11 in August of that year. Hypnotised was listed in 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die a poll selected and written by 90 leading international music critics. Fortunately the band didn´t change the debut album musical style and this is an exact repetition... perfect and great. Nothing to do with new wave, techno pop or similars, this is pure melodic, clean and well produced punk rock.

Big surprise for everybody The Undertones ressuraction was in 2003, ten years after its fourth album and yes, the band come back to its roots of pure, simple and also clean punk rock with those little mod, pop and melodic touches so originals in almost all The Undertones songs. Thirteen songs well writen, well produced and played in the same way as twenty years before. Good job for these boys.

SMALL FACES

"The essential collection"
Year:  2005
Country:  UK
City:  London
Label:  Union square
Format:  2 x CD
Tracks:  36
Time:  110 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Mod        Hard Rock

SMALL FACES were an british Mod band from London. The group was founded in 1965 by members Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones, and Jimmy Winston, although by 1966 Winston was replaced by Ian McLagan as the band's keyboardist. The band is remembered as one of the most acclaimed and influential Mod groups of the 1960s. With memorable hit songs such as "Itchycoo Park", "Lazy Sunday", "All or Nothing", "Tin Soldier", and their concept album Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake, they later evolved into one of the UK's most successful psychedelic acts before disbanding in 1969. After the Small Faces disbanded, with Marriott leaving to form Humble Pie, the remaining three members were joined by Ronnie Wood as guitarist, and Rod Stewart as their lead vocalist, both from The Jeff Beck Group, and the new line-up was renamed Faces. A revived version of the original Small Faces existed from 1975 to 1978. Small Faces are also acknowledged as being one of the biggest original influences on the Britpop movement of the 1990s. Despite the fact the band were together just four years in their original incarnation, the Small Faces' music output from the mid to late sixties remains among the most acclaimed British mod and psychedelic music of that era. I am not an expert in Mod Culture or Sixties Culture at all, and just for this reason I decided to buy this huge compilation with all SMALL FACES hits. Maybe If somebody want to know better this band, the better way is to buy all its discography, but in my personal case with 36 tracks and more than 100 minutes of minutes is enough. Besides, the label remastered all tracks and the general sound is much better than old releases from the 60´s.
