Hardcore band Tragedy were founded in the year 2000, in Memphis, Tennessee, by former members of local crustcore legends His Hero Is Gone -- vocalist/guitarist Todd Burdette, guitarist Yannick Lorrain, and drummer Paul Burdette -- but they soon relocated to Portland, Oregon in a bid for a fresh start. Once settled, the trio recruited another Tennessee transplant, bassist Billy Davis (of Nashville's From Ashes Rise), before recording its eponymous debut, released independently later that year, and licensed to Skuld Records in 2001. An EP entitled Can We Call This Life? also emerged that same year, followed by the group's sophomore album, Vengeance, in 2002 and its third, Nerve Damage, in 2006. But although these efforts enjoyed sweeping critical support and led to several tours of America and abroad based on the band's reputation alone, Tragedy have remained obstinately secretive throughout their career -- even refusing to launch an official website -- or else there's no telling how much bigger they would be. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia

The Vandals are a punk rock band formed in 1980 in Huntington Beach, California and currently recording for Kung Fu Records. They have released ten full-length studio albums and two live albums and have toured the world extensively, including performances on the Vans Warped Tour. They are well-known for their use of humor, preferring to use their music as a vehicle for entertainment and sarcasm rather than as a platform for more “serious” issues.   The band’s lineup fluctuated significantly over their first nine years, though founding members Steven Ronald “Stevo” Jensen, guitarist Jan Nils Ackermann, and first consistent drummer Joe Escalante remained regular fixtures. Of the original members only Escalante has remained through all incarnations of the band. The current lineup of Escalante, Dave Quackenbush, Warren Fitzgerald, and Josh Freese has remained intact since 1990 and is considered by most fans to be far removed from the band’s early 1980s incarnation. Since 2002 Escalante has released all of the band’s albums through his Kung Fu Records label, with Fitzgerald generally producing. Brilliant album (*Password: destileriasonora ).

Legendary and most famous debut SOZIEDAD ALKOHOLIKA album released in 1991 through "Overdrive Records", then a new label which made this album, plus Subterranean Kids "Ya no hay tiempo" and Beer Mosh debut. If its demo tape was a completly surprise in the spanish underground scene, this debut album was no doubt the most successfully hardcore album of 1991. The band got a very good technical level and its speed was then a total surprise. It seem the only one spanish band to make fast-core and thrashcore were Acció Directa and HHH, both already reviewed in this blog. The whole disc remind bands such as: Intense Degree, Spazz, Lärm, Heresy, Siege, etc. all of them quite popular late 80s decade.

This is a nice and quite underrated mini-album which collected nine covers of different bands. We can to listen to Peter & The Test Tube Babies ("¿Que Tal Los Examenes?"), Ratos De Porao ("Periferia"), Girlschool ("Ladron") until nine songs. Musically move more or less from punk to hard rock, with no hardcore or thrash influences at all. The album was also made by their own label now already defunct "Milagritos Records".

The killer songs that appeared in their debut self-titled (and self-produced) effort back in 1991, re-recorded with the metalized (and brutalized) sound they've achieved over 20 years in the bussiness. Sesión#2 is the name of the album by the Basque group Soziedad Alkoholika, released on November 30, 2009. The album contains old songs that have been recorded again.4 The original songs belong to the self-titled album "Soziedad Alkoholika", also known as the black record. The three bonus tracks correspond to the demo "Intoxikazión etílika". As in 1997 with the album Don't try to do this at home!, the band records this album with four components after the departure of guitarist Javi in August 2009, and in October 2009 Íñigo joined shortly before leaving from the album.

Pig Destroyer was formed by guitarist Scott Hull aside from his other major grindcore band Agoraphobic Nosebleed. The reason for forming Pig Destroyer is to bring back what "grindcore should be". The explanation behind the name of the band was a story in which the members were waiting in line to go on a roller coaster when they were thinking of the "most absurd punk rock name they could come imagine." They thought of Cop Killer and Cop Destroyer, but then thought of Pig Destroyer; a less-obvious name than the other two. At the time they were more political and it made the most sense to them, but now they claim it's just the name of the band. For a very long period of time, Pig Destroyer never had a bass player, nor did they use bass in their music. They went without a bass player in their entire career up until October of 2013 where John Jarvis was incepted into the band. Before 2013, the only ever exception was the recording of a live gig with a bass player for the bonus part of their song "Terrifyer". Contrary to popular belief, Scott Hull did not collaborate with Tribes of Neurot on the album "Static Migration" under the pseudonym "Walking Time Bombs", this pseudonym was used by Pain Teens guitarist Scott Ayers. Shortly before Pig Destroyer formed, JR Hayes and Scott Hull were in the band Treblinka together - the lineup completed by Mason (Enemy Soil), Jeff Kane (City of Caterpillar), and Eric Kane (Strike Anywhere). They played one show at Club Soda (Washington DC) in 1997 opening for Assuck before splitting up.

Brian Baker, formerly of Minor Threat, formed DAG NASTY with Colin Sears, Roger Marbury and Shawn Brown in 1985 Shortly Before the recording of Their debut full-length, "Can I Say", where members Shawn Was Replaced by former frontman dys Dave Smalley, kicking off a revolving door membership thatâ would continue throughout the duration of the band, ultimately leavin Brian as the only original member. Recorded DAG NASTY "Can I Say" in June 1986 and "Wig Out ​​at Denkos" in December 1987 for Dischord Records Before moving to Giant Records for the release of "Field Day" in 1988. The "Can I Say" Reformed line-up in 1992 to record "Four on the Floor" for Epitaph and again in 2002 to record a full-length for Revelation Records. In November 2010 Dischord released the long shelved "Dag With Shawn" recording session, featuring the original line-up with DAG NASTY Shawn Brown where vowels. This is essentially the Same album that was later re-recorded and released as "Can I Say". Essential album.
