MASTIC SCUM is an Austrian grindcore band founded in 1992. The band
consists of founding members Harry (guitar), Man (drums) and Maggo
(vocals, since 2008) and Much (bass, since 2005). They used to write
lyrics about social issues, politics, feelings, etc. something like
“mincecore”, but has different musical sources from death metal to
crust, punk, etc. They released the following three albums: Zero (1999),
Scar (2002), Mind (2005). They has also released splits with
Agathocles, Rotten Sound, Haemorrhage, C.S.S.O., Senseless, Blockheads,
Mixomatosis, Malignant Tumour and Fleshless. Maybe some ones of you ask why I choose this MASTIC SCUM album from 1999. Well the answer is very easy, is my favourite obviously and also the more grindcore album, in the sense of to have short, simple and direct songs. I don't want to say newest albums are bad at all, but they are nearer to Metal and even Industrial music. Is not strange the now already german label "Noise Variations Records" choose this album to make it, to distribute it and to promote it... pure grindcore friends. "CTRL" (2013) is no doubt a good album but is quite Industrial and Nu Metal influenced and far from ortodox grindcore like early MASTIC SCUM albums. You can listen to five long albums here below in "Other Releases" and to choose of course.
