SEPULTURA is a brazilian thrash metal band from Belo Horizonte. Formed in 1984 by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera,  the band was a major force in the death metal, thrash metal and groove metal genres during the late 80s and early 90s, with their later experiments drawing influence from nu metal, hardcore, punk and industrial music. SEPULTURA has had several changes in its lineup since its formation, with Max and Igor Cavalera departing in 1996 and 2006, respectively. SEPULTURA's current line up consists of vocalist Derrick Green, guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Jr. and drummer Eloy Casagrande.

NAILBOMB
"point blank"
Year:  1994
Label:  Universal
Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  12
Time:  38 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Thrash        Hardcore

Short-lived collaboration between Alex Newport & Max Cavalera . They produced one studio album ("Point Blank"), followed by a compilation of live and studio tracks called "Proud To Commit Commercial Suicide". This could be one of the 10 best hardcore albums of the 90s. Injustice But for some unknown to me, is one of the most overlooked of the hardcore / punk scene disks. Nailbomb is the famous Max Cavalera, singer and guitarist of Sepultura and Soulfly. The social consciousness, the struggle for human rights and environmental protection, are nothing new elements or Sepultura Max Cavalera. "Chaos A.D." is an album full of political messages and these people have never  hidden their sympathy for the hardcore / punk bands, for example by Ratos De Porao, Olho Seco or Discharge. Nailbomb is a very unknown band only recorded two albums and a live album, but it was enough to prove their tenacious effort into making a modern hardcore, avantguardista and very influenced by Industrial music. Some people believes that the disc is too Industrial. Others too hardcore /punk. Others too Thrash. My opinion is simply that it is a very good album and we must not forget that Max Cavalera and other Nailbomb worked hard to do something different, original.

"roots"
Year:  1996
Label:  Universal

Time::  60 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Thrash Tribal

Before Max Cavalera left to form Soulfly, there was no denying that Sepultura were a significant force in Brazilian heavy metal, proven by the band's openness to experimentation throughout their career, increasingly heading towards a point where dabbling not only in hardcore punk, but also in traditional Brazilian music wouldn't be out of the question. Roots, while not the best album of Sepultura's career, is an album that showcases a diverse mixture of styles, and should not be passed up for this reason. The opening tracks showcase an interest in groove-oriented music, while the downtuned sound, as previously noted, recalls that of the Deftones and Korn. The drumming of "Roots Bloody Roots" channels a tribal influence, further explored through primitive chants and vocalization spread throughout the album. "Ratamahatta" features chanting coperformed by Cavalera and samba reggae musician Carlinhos Brown, with percussion performed by Korn drummer David Silveria. The vocal duties of "Lookaway" is largely cohandled by Mike Patton and Korn's Jonathan Davis, with Patton providing wordless vocalization and humming while Davis provides throaty whispering. Also interesting, in addition to the influence of tribal music, is the incorporation of scratches by House of Pain's DJ Lethal. Two tracks break away from Sepultura's traditional hard edge - "Jasco" is a short piece performed on acoustic guitar, and "Itsári" consists of traditional music performed by members of the Xavante tribe. After one last rock song -- the hardcore punk effort "Dictatorshit" -- we are treated to the field recording "Canyon Jam", consisting largely of distant, offset tribal drumming. Roots, often considered a masterpiece of Brazilian metal, is not without flaw -- much of the music is noisy and the loud, grinding guitar feedback and can sometimes be tiring. But there is also a lot of interesting things going on here. It's not a perfect album by any stretch, but it's certainly one of Sepultura's most interesting efforts, and it's definitely one of the most unique metal albums ever produced, though often overpraised, and definitely not Sepultura's best album. But it's a very strong, energetic effort -- the band is in high form here, and there's not a moment that seems lazy or ill-conceived. Roots should serve as the metalhead's introduction to diverse forms of music from beyond the globe. (*Review from HERE ).

"nation"
Year:  2001
Label:  Universal
Format:  CD
Tracks:  15
Time:  52 min.
Genre:   rock
Style:        Thrash Hardcore

"Nation" is the eighth studio album by the brazilian metal band SEPULTURA, released in 2001 through Roadrunner Records. "Nation" features guest appearances from artists such as hardcore band Hatebreed singer Jamey Jasta, punk band Dead Kennedys singer Jello Biafra, Ill Niño singer Cristian Machado, Bile frontman Krztoff and Apocalyptica. The album received better reviews than "Against", but sold fewer copies. As of April 2002, "Nation" has sold over 55.700 copies in the U.S. and went gold in Brazil. I personally think "Nation" is one of the best SEPULTURA albums next to unforgotten "Chaos A.D.". The band make a clear slow groove-metal with interesting different influences from hardcore to tribal or industrial. Lyrically the band has been clearly influenced by hardcore / punk attitude or point of view about life, society, ecology, economy, etc. really interesting.

FLAG OF DEMOCRACY is a hardcore punk band from the Philadelphia ´burbs. F.O.D. was formed in 1982 and are still going strong. Their first show was with Minor Threat, Agnostic Front, SS Decontrol and Crib Death at a Better Youth Organization show in Camden, NJ. Most recently they played a 25th anniversary show with Total Fucking Destruction, SUX, The Freeze, and fellow Philly hardcore legends YDI. Over the years, the band has toured the world wide. They remain extremely popular not only in America but in Eastern Europe and Japan as well. This is its debut album entitled "Shatter your day" and I discovered it few days ago and just at the first time I realized I was in front of one of the best HC / punk albums recorded ever. If you like Bad Brains, MDC or Dead Kennedys you are going to fall in love on this album and probably this band too. The release was made in 1986 through "Buy Our Records" but in 2013 its own record label, "SRA Records", took the complet  discography, remastered it and put it avaible on different formats: CD, LP and cassette. It seem the band continue its activity and its ultra dynamic, energetic and fast hardcore punk like its first day!
