The Vacants were a "ghost" group that only existed for the recording of this LP, just as the FU2s served for a clever Italian producer under 'Beatt International' will release two albums of the rising style of music. The Vacants among other musicians had in the recording under pseudonym "Martin Chambers" future drummer of "Pretenders" and "Terry Gibson" of "Downliner sect" along with the vocalist "Guy Greenhough" future "Mouth To Mouth". The producer wanted to include several versions of punk bands and in the end the product was left with a series of own songs to highlight "Television viewer" without a doubt the best of the album and some versions such as "beat on the brat" by the Ramones and various Covers from the 60's like "Pushin too hard" by the Seeds or "louie louie" by the Kingsmen. Recorded in just 7 hours without the musicians being happy with the final result, basically because of the production, they had the option of a second album, but by not allowing the label to have control, everything was left up in the air.
The album is a rarity without really being a great product. It was never edited in England and was licensed in addition to Spain in France, Italy and Australia. each edition with a different cover and as a curiosity the cover photo in the French edition is the other of the band including a girl.
In Spain it was published in 1978 under the small Apolo label with a fairly basic and minimally attractive cover composition highlighting in large letters the term "Punk rock" next to the label indicating the British origin and the price with launch offer. repeated on the back cover next to the titles. We have no record of promotional copies. There is a bootleg with the same cover as the Spanish edition (*Review by Spanish Bombs ).
