"beat the bastards" is an album by the scottish band The Exploited, released in 1996 through Rough Justice Records. The songs "Law for the rich" and "Police TV" both contain audio samples from the 1971 feature film A Clockwork Orange. Intro before song "beat the bastards" contains sample from film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Lisbeth Salander (played by Noomi Rapace) wears a t-shirt with the album's cover art in the Swedish film adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009 film). The album had very commercial succes, but some few ones considered the album too much metalized. Fifty minutes of "crossover thrash" with long songs and high quality sound. In 2014 "Nuclear Blast records" made the album again on different formats: CD, LP, cassette and DVD. Lyrical themes are as usual: paramilitary, nihilism, chaos and violence.

The Exploited are a scottish rock band from the second wave of punk, formed in 1979. Originally as fast hardcore punk band until 1990, when they recorded "crossover thrash" with strong heavy metal influences in their two next albums. "the massacre" and "beat the bastards" are the two closest thrash-metal albums, but already in its beginning they made some kind of seminal, ultra simple and primitive: thrash. "out of control", "free flight" or "royalty" are three tracks of 1980 with a base and a repetition scheme is reminiscent: thrash. In "the massacre" metal influence is so great that even the cover, back and all the artwork accompanying the disc, seems straight out of a heavy metal band. Even the posers and super-exagerated costume showing for the band's members reminds a little falsehood of some heavy metal stars. "The massacre" can to remind the Sodom album "agent orange", in fact, both bands are quite similar. Commercially "the massacre" was one of the most successful albums. To mention the disgusting words against the fanzine "Maximum Rock'n'Roll" (also HERE) and the controversy between The Exploited and some american bands like Dead Kennedys or Septic Death.

One of the best and most original release of all The Exploited
discography could be this "Horror epics" from 1984, which can mix the typical punk hardcore sound with another styles such as: dark wave, death rock or even goth rock, and frankly the result is excellent and brilliant. Even the
cover and back of the album is original If we compare it with the rest of the covers. Another new is the electronic drums which were recorded, one, two and three drums at the same time, with the goal to get an effect of reverb or echo in the rhythmic section. Similar reverb or "echo" effect was aplied on voices, chorus, guitars and bass. I ignore the reasons but the album was issued firstly in the USA and later in UK and Europe.
