SEPTIC DEATH (Boise, Idaho) is a punk band fronted by artist Brian “Pushead” Schroeder. SEPTIC DEATH’s hybrid of primitive thrash instrumentation and blisteringly fast hardcore punk became a major influence on bands like Integrity, Citizens Arrest, Infest and many other bands tied to the hardcore, thrashcore, crustcore, grindcore etc. scene. This their debut mini album and for my personal taste, their best recording. I try to imagine how it sounded in 1984: fast, noisy, extreme... a true energy discharge in just 16 minutes. Is not crust nor grind, but this kind of hardcore seem goes to that musical direction. When I read a little bit the "Pushead" personal biograpy, I realized he was a big artist in tatoos, paintings, comix, poster designs, etc. Brian Schroeder (a.k.a. Pushead) is an artist, record label owner, and writer within the hardcore punk and heavy metal field. He has created artwork for many bands, artists, and athletes including Metallica, The Misfits, Dr. Dre, Travis Barker, Craig Johnson and Kool Keith. He has designed many record covers, T-shirts, skateboards, and a pair of Nike SB Dunks. His record label, Pusmort Records, has released albums by Negative Gain, Poison Idea and Final Conflict. He fronted the band Septic Death during the 1980s, which gained reviews in The Rocket and Creem.
