"The Dead End Kids, not to be mistakenfor the NYC company of actors or the 1970s US punk band, did not give much thought about their name when they founded the band in 2015.Instead, it is their mixtureofglitter and power punk that captivates their audience.Their formationis preceded bya longer backstory. Three quarters of the band know each other since their schooldays and have been makingmusic ever since. At an early stage, Caro and Fatima began to write down theirthoughtsand transformedthem into songs. In addition, it is guitarist Charlie who has always been an integral part in the makingof complexanddiversified riffs. With Burkhard as their bassist, TDEK played various showsfrom 2015 to mid-2019.During that time, they supported Mobina Galore and Dust Bolt among others and released their debut album “In deiner Stadt” in 2018. The band’s heart and soul belongto both German and English lyrics as well as heavy but also catchy melodies.In 2019, bassist Aaron completed TDEK’sfinal line-up so that theycould strike again with their new album,„Kommando Glitzer“, released in May 2020.The album is a promising mixture of harshness, a portion of self-mockery, and a critical examination of our society.Since allband membersvalue their autonomy, as much as possibleis organisedby themselves.Besides their facial glitter on stage, the DIY attitude is a characteristicfeature the band. Moreover, TDEK not only intend to publish their music but also support the sea rescue programme “Mission Lifeline” throughdonationsand the distribution of educational material. In 2019, they organised two charityfundraisingconcertsagainst period poverty in Erfurt and Dresden together with friendlybands. The series will be continued in 2020 and 2021.
