The value of some records sometimes resides, above all, in what they have as a document of an era, a record of a style. This is precisely the case, not only of "Condemned to Fight" (Suicide Records, 1986) but of other albums released around the same time such as "Skalherria Punk" (Suicide Records, 1986), "Kortatu, Cicatriz, Jotakie and Kontuz Hi !” (Soñua, 1985) and even the “Zona especial Norte” (Spansuls, 1984). All of them were works shared by several of the bands that were beginning to form the panorama of what came to be known as Radical Basque Rock, from the early 80s. They transcend the mere compilation, because more than a selection of the best songs by the bands in question, are actually baptisms of fire, presentations in society, of these groups.
“Condemned to Fight” suffers, however, like some of the others mentioned above, of serious deficiencies in sound quality. Therefore, it does not show the bands in their best version, but that did not stop them from being then, and now, after a few decades, records that any lover of punk, state-owned hardcore knows how to appreciate in its proper measure (*Review by TGL ).
