They will be 27 years old since they joined together for the first time. This is already his tenth album. It is preceded by "The end of diplomacy", which left the bar high. And even so, the Castelló band has plenty of gas to go back to surpassing itself, with the vitality and freshness of a first album and the quality and experience of a tenth. Bad Vices presented last March "Cracks", ten cannon shots to toast for his tenth album, the most mature to date and one of the best, if not the best. As they have us accustomed, they combine punk with touches hard rock and even heavy metal tone here or there.
They are sincere, they do not seek to change their style to something more popular that attracts thousands of new fans, nor do they change the destiny of their lyrics. They feel the injustices, they feel the music, and so they seek to transmit it. From its first discs, the improvement in its rhythms and its letters is a constant. With tremendously attractive refrains, such as "Steel and rust", with fast whirling as "Farmafia de guardia" (What a wonderful song!) To others more calm, see "The ambush", going through a combination of both in "The stop of the monsters". Criticism lasts against justice at a time when censorship is on the rise (very recent case suffered by Josetxu Piperrak), against the church and against the monarchy in "My Day of Fury", and another shot for the advertising industry and his need for a single profile acceptable to society in "Fresh meat".
They are also very empathetic with those who suffer most at this time. An exciting "Ivory and porcelain" talks about immigration, many of them illegal, and that often end in tragedies in the attempt to cross the sea. Musically very addictive appears "Incombustibles", with lyrics dedicated to the love of a couple, that not all are negative issues in this life. "Las horas muertas" has surprised me by the use in its refrain of an echo effect longer than what is usually heard, although it is very well squared and gives a differentiating touch to the song. "Fucking but happy" has a melody of the most animated, telling with joy the misfortunes of everyday life. Everyone is happy with what they want, as they say in the song: "I'm happy, I'm bitter, no one takes the blindfold off my eyes". We are happy with the delivery of this "Cracks", a record from beginning to end, very mature and very powerful, that opens a little more our eyes and frees our mind of daily stress (*Review by Pablo Fuñi ).
